| The Pet Shack Resort opened its doors on the week of Thanksgiving, 1998. It had originally been a kennel, but its facilities and reputation had become run down over the years after the previous owner's divorce.
In 1998, I had also divorced and was looking for a way to support myself. I had always had multiple pets, including dogs, cats, horses, birds and an assortment of small mammals. For me, this was the perfect solution! I could do what I loved and support myself as well.
The facility started with 36 runs and no form of indoor or outdoor play. It is my belief that the emotional well-being of our guests is very much dependent on exercise and playtime. Recently, we completed an addition that gives us 85 runs for dogs and 16 cat condos. We also now have 12 individual outside play areas and plans to add indoor play areas in the future so that our guests may play longer during inclement weather. Much time and energy is spent making our guests stay safe, comfortable and happy. All of the employees at the Pet Shack Resort enjoy a wet sloppy kiss as much as I do!
